Coming atcha live on this (FREEZING COLD) Tuesday morning. I've honestly found that when I'm feeling overwhelmed / under-inspired, live blogs always help me get back into the swing of things. I'm all for planning and outlining, but sometimes you just need to write in real time, you know?
Anyway, a few little life things:
Florida is broken. Yesterday I checked the weather and it was warmer in Colorado than it was in Florida. I am both very confused and also personally offended by this.

Jack turned three. My family (including my baby brother because he lives in Florida again!) met us at Universal to celebrate the birthday boy and it was just the best. My favorite place and favorite people. Full, full heart.

I've kind of been keeping a "more / less" tab going in my head. Instead of making resolutions this year, I chose to just spend the year as best as I could. In order to do that, I want more of certain things and less of others. More joy, less worrying. More sunsets, less TV. More yoga, less overthinking, etc, etc. It's a great mental nudge to myself to think about how I spend my time.

I saw a quote the other day that said, "You are the longest relationship you will ever have in your life. Take care of it." And it really struck a chord with me. I think that means different things to different personality types, but to me, it means more being intentional about self-care, less negative thoughts, more breaks, less letting what other people think bother me. See? More and less.

The sun is coming up, it's a fresh start, it's going to be a wonderful day. Whatever is on deck for you today, I know you can do it. Hope your day is absolutely beautiful. xo.
Coming in live today because I am wide awake way too early due to the weirdest sleep schedule ever this weekend. And for that, I can thank the stomach flu sent straight. From. Hell. I'm telling you, hand-delivered by Satan himself. It was honestly maybe the sickest I've ever been, and I am so thankful to be done with that. Also so thankful for the ability to be drinking a cup of coffee without feeling nauseous for the first time in four days.
You know the cliché that you don't know how good you feel until you're sick? Well that's TRUE. I am still not 100% and still have that weird sickness hangover, but waking up without a pounding head and a desert-dry mouth after puking all night is making me feel amazing.
Before the stomach flu took me out, I got to wear my cactus costume to my work's annual fall party. I love how it turned out!
Side note: Really underestimated how prickly those pipe cleaners would actually be and definitely stabbed everyone I hugged. Do di doooo.
I hope everyone has the best Monday! It is 53 magical degrees here and I have all my windows open and I hope it is just as wonderful wherever you are. I feel like I could probably run a marathon (lies, I would definitely faint and probably die if I tried to walk to my mailbox today because WEAK), but instead, I'm off to Clorox my entire house. Please tell me you're doing something more fun?
When I first started blogging, it was like a year before I even knew you could schedule blogs ahead of time. So if there was a blog posted, it was written that day. And while my neverending desire to get my life organized loves being able to schedule things head of time, I do love writing + posting in the moment when it can happen. It feels more like we're all hanging out, you know?
This morning, I'm drinking vanilla maple coffee (still going strong with the black coffee!) with cinnamon and it might be my favorite non-pumpkin coffee to date. I got it on a whim at TJ Maxx and I'm definitely going back to stock up before it's all gone.
Speaking of coffee, I've got a new favorite thing: Blended coffee protein shakes. A cup of your favorite coffee + a scoop of your favorite protein powder + ice. Blend that baby up and it tastes like a frappucino, except it's actually healthy. Over the weekend I blended pumpkin spice coffee with vanilla protein powder and it was so delicious.
How was your weekend? On Friday, my friend Sam took off work (bless a job that offers mental health days as well as sick days) and we had a girls day. We both got our hair cut (it was the first time I've had mine cut since a year ago when it was accidentally chopped to my chin, but that's a story for another day). When you've got a good cut, everything else feels more put together, am I right? I just got a trim and some fresh layers, but I feel like a new woman who could take on the WORLD.
Speaking of taking on the world, I'm trying something new in terms of to-do lists this week. Instead of working on all the things every day, I'm going to dedicate a day a week to an area of my to-do list. So on one day, go super hard on blogging, another day, get my house together, another day, write my butt off. I'll report back, but I'm hopeful that I'll be more productive this way. We shall see!
I hope you have the best, most productive, most enjoyable week. Starting today, make yourself proud of how you spend this week!
PS: If you're in the path of this awful storm, know you're in my thoughts and I'm praying for you.
I love the mornings when I can get it together enough to be able to just sit and write a blog post for that very day. It's rare, but today is one of those days! I'm sitting on my couch, drinking cinnamon vanilla coffee (from Target-AMAZING) with a gold face mask on (if you follow me on instagram, you are well aware of my current gold face mask obsession. It's real) and if I could blog like this every day, I would be the happiest little camper in all the land.
As with all live blogs, here's a bunch of little things that I want to tell you but that literally nothing to do with each other. Happy Tuesday!
Last night, I got back from a long weekend with my family at a lakehouse in Georgia. It was right on the water and was so, so pretty. Just look at that view! I now have a life goal to own a lakehouse and have my own coffee views like that.
On my drive there and back I listened to The Last Mrs. Parrish. I've got about three hours left and while I felt like it started out a little slow, I was almost bummed to get home because it was starting to get reeeeaaalllly good (and creepy). Anyone read this?
Side note: I love Audible, but I can only listen to either non-fiction books or suspensful books. I'm too easily distracted listening to any other genre. Anyone else?
I've been taking the best care of my skin and it's in the best shape it's been in awhile....except for when I wear makeup. This makes me so sad, because I love my makeup. Like, obsessed. But every single time I wear it, no matter if it's every day or for the first time in two weeks, I breakout. So, it's gonna be a no from me. After doing some research, I decided to give Beautycounter a go and see if using cleaner products makes any difference. It got here last night and I'm so excited to try it! Any BC fans? Did it help your skin?
I found this hat at WALMART of all places, and I couldn't be more obsessed. I hate going there with a fiery passion, but they do have some hidden gems, I'll give them that.
What's going on with you? Tell me your random things!
Gooood morning + happy Monday!
I had every intention of scheduling blogs to go live during my trip to D.C., but Jack was sick all week. I don't know if you've ever been around a toddler with a stomach virus, but it's very, very time consuming (and also very messy, but we don't have to talk about that). Anyway, life happens. Here we are.
I'm feeling really good today. I mean, I'm so tired, and my to-do list is approximately a mile long, and good GRACIOUS how is there so much laundry?! But I'm also feeling like, "Hey, it's a Monday! A fresh start and a new week and lots of potential!" Maybe it's the coffee I'm chugging, but I'm rolling with it.
One thing I noticed on my trip was that I was excited about everything. And while you might think, okay, duh, everyone's excited on vacation, I mean I was excited about everything. I'd wake up in the morning (I'm cursed and cannot sleep in, even on vacation) and drink my coffee on the couch and think about the day and it would feel so exciting. Deciding what we were going to eat for breakfast felt exciting. We bought $1 face masks from Forever 21 and it felt exciting. We sat on a bench in a park and drank diet cokes and it felt like the best day ever. We felt so lucky to be there. Because we were!
I really want more of that in my normal life. And while yes, vacation is always going to feel more exciting than waking up on a Monday morning and working and doing laundry, I can at least try to take some of that excitement and bring it with me into my daily life. I mean, you never know what a day is going to hold, but I can almost promise you'll enjoy that day more if you feel lucky to be living it.
So that's my goal this week. It's a Monday, so it's a perfect time to roll out something new. This week, my something new will be trying to be excited about everything, even the mundane things. Trying to have the attitude that, "of course this is going to be a good day!" An attitude of feeling lucky to be alive and living this life. Because I really, really am.
Who wants to join me?
