Let's Drink Coffee & Talk About Life.
If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I've never been so tired. But I've also never felt so in love with my life. I'd also tell you that timehop showed me a picture with a similar caption from two years ago, where Christopher's work schedule was insane and we were sacrificing sleep so we could be normal and go to the bar with our friends. I felt in love with life then, sure. But somehow, giving up sleep for a snuggly little munchkin is more fulfilling than giving it up for drinks and dancing. Who would have thought?
If we were having coffee at my house there would probably be cartoons playing. Jack has reached the stage where he really enjoys the colors and music of certain cartoons, and it's adorable. I'd tell you that I've been pretty surprised by how cartoons actually talk about important stuff! Jack can't understand what's being said yet, but so far I've heard songs about sharing with your friends, taking care of your pets, being yourself, and pitching in with hard work. It makes me happy to know he will grow up learning these things from shows he actually likes.
I'd tell you that I'm learning it's possible to be overwhelmed and also a little bored at the same time. It's a weird feeling to end the day so tired from all I've done and overwhelmed by all I didn't get done but also feel a little bit bored because I didn't get out of the house, or get any fun hobby related things done. I think anytime a big change happens it takes a little bit of time to adjust, and right now I'm adjusting to working from home and taking care of Jack without any help. This life is messy and perfect and I wouldn't trade a single bit of it, but it is taking a little bit of adjusting.
I'd tell you how much this cracked me up. If there's anything I love more than basic, popular things...it's a good satire about basic, popular things.
I'd tell you that I'm still going strong on the healthy creamer. And I'm still feeling way better in the mornings that I was with the good stuff (MISS YOU, BAE).
Now...your turn! What's going on in your life?
Ps..that mug is from Francesca's and Chris found it on his own and bought it for me. I won the lottery with that one.
I have the same mug - LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand how you feel! Right now I'm sitting here while Aida naps, feeling kind of overwhelmed with housework that needs to be done, but also not wanting to do it...and still feeling tired! Motherhood is such a mess of contradictions :)
ReplyDeleteOk LOVE that mug. And cartoons are actually super impressive! Try the baby channel if you haven't- a lot of them are kind of weird but everything is letters and words and manners and honestly teaches more and is more engaging than boring old mom sometimes ;-)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way as you- a lot of things to do (my MCAT exam is in 2 days!), but I am so bored from doing it- seriously. Also, I NEED THAT MUG!
ReplyDeleteI would trade all the nights out for one in with my family too. The good old days were fun, but nothing beats family time. PS- I want that creamer recipe girllll! XO!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I think sacrificing sleep for quality time with your loved ones is always exhausting but so fulfilling! I'm in a similar position right now and I wouldn't have it any other way! Also - definitely having coffee while reading it so, we pretty much were having coffee together this morning and I loved it!

I must have missed something, what is your healthy creamer?
ReplyDeleteI totally learned things through watching cartoons/kids programing. Mr. Rodgers is all about lessons!

How thoughtful was he to get that mug for you?! Too perfect!
ReplyDeletewhere did you get that mug!!??? LOVE!!
ReplyDeleteLove love love our coffee dates! Hoping for a real-life one soon :)
ReplyDeleteYour first post mentioning your homemade creamer made me decide to switch. I still have some of 'the bad stuff' at work and at home, but once they're gone, I'm going to make the healthy stuff in the empty bottles!
ReplyDeleteBROWN DRINK. I'm laughing so hard.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best - when your life is so jam packed with greatness that it tires you out in the best way. I'm so happy to hear that you're enjoying yourself!
ReplyDeleteThe "brown drink" article is cracking me up! ha!
ReplyDeleteThat mug is great! And even more awesome that your husband found it without any help ;) Ok, that article is the best thing I've read in a few days! "How do you even pronounce ‘orange’? Is it a soft ‘G’ like in ‘gif,’ or a hard ‘G’ like in ‘gif’?” - HAHA. So good. All of it.
ReplyDeleteYour updates on little Jack are always so sweet, I swear he is the cutest baby!!
ReplyDeleteOhh I love your blog SO much. <3
ReplyDeleteXo

Love that mug! I can totally relate to being overwhelmed and bored at the same time...that usually tells me I need to change the things I'm filling my days with, since obviously they aren't things I'm passionate about!
ReplyDeleteHow cute that he got you that mug on his own! #keeper
ReplyDeleteSo many people are down on screen time, but I'm not! I love the stuff my girls have learned from watching shows. Heck, me too lol!
I absolutely love your mug! I am so with you on the first two sentences. XOXO I'm laughing about the #BrownDrink!
ReplyDeleteI saw that mug at Francesscas. It was so cute. Change is really hard and I think it takes more of a toll than we realize. I know you will adjust with time and I'm glad you can stay home with Jack.
ReplyDeleteAlso, having a husband in medicine does make for some really weird schedules! My husband is in the ER as a P.A. and it has been a big adjustment.
I love posts like these. :)
ReplyDeleteI also love the brown drink article. So funny!
I loved reading this and I'm totally getting that mug:) The one thing on my mind right now is that I want summer to never end so I can enjoy it to the fullest. Kisses, darling.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling of being so tired yet you can't help but just count your blessings. I'm not a huge fan of TV, but I certainly don't think there's anything wrong with it if it's in moderation of course! And honestly, sometimes it's a life saver for me to get something done or get ready in the morning! :)
