it's a beautiful day to be thankful.

This week, I'm thankful for...

Concerts with my best friend. Sometimes you find out that Mat Kearney--who you loved and listened to throughout high school and college--is right down the road from you having a concert. And when you find this out, you drop what you are doing and go to said concert.

And then sometimes the opener ends up being so good and hilarious that you make this face all night:

Pool days. Summer has arrived, and I plan on taking full advantage of my rooftop pool for as many days as I can.

Marriage. Someone was asking me about marriage last week, and the best way I could explain it was this: Even if I fail at everything in my life--if I lose my job and all of my friends and ruin everything around me--I know that I can come home and there will still be one person on my team, no matter what. And that's just the best feeling in the world.

Country music. I love country music, and lately I can't get enough of it. I can't stop listening to this song. It is absolutely hilarious, but it's also very true.

What are you thankful for this week?

  2. Kasey Musgraves is wonderful. I love that her music is always cheeky and full of sass. She's just a kick butt person. I saw her new album is called Pageant Queen and knowing her and the first single of "Biscuits" I can't wait to play that this summer!

  10. Well it's Winter here, but rooftop pools sound amazing right now! Ah I don't know. What am I grateful for? Sadly the only thing that comes to mind is my bed, Netflix and food.

  12. You are amazing & your timing always seems to be right on. I love country music (the older kind) & I love my husband. He & I have been talking a lot about this lately. He knows there's nothing in this world that I won't do for him & vice versa. I do these things because I love him so much. It doesn't matter if it's a tiny little olé thing or something big. I just want to do it for him so he won't have to do it. This June 22, we will have been married 24 years. I love saying this, our marriage gets better & better as time goes on. So, you younger folks have a lot to look forward to! I am thankful for my husband. I'm also thankful that you seemed to have had a fun week. It does a person good to just get out of the house! Can't wait until your next post!

  14. AMEN to the marriage point! It truly is the greatest blessing! I try to write 3 things I'm thankful for in each journal entry. I tell ya, sometimes it gets really difficult to get past the "Big" things, but it is so important, in my opinion! Hope you're having a great weekend!

  15. I am thankful that the last two weeks went well at work with the spring musical (the kids do a musical every year, this year it was the story of Joseph), the awards ceremony (we don't have any 8th graders this year, so no graduates) and the big field trip that everyone stresses about today. I'm also thankful that the end of the school year is tomorrow. :)

  16. Definitely agree with your marriage point...I think that is the one thing I am truly grateful for every single day of my life, my husband. I find it hard to believe that I deserve to be this happy and am so worried that one day he will be taken away from me, so I honestly do cherish him and our happy home xx
