"There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living."
I think that in theory, we would all agree with this. We would all agree that our passion shouldn't be wasted, that we should follow after our dreams, that we should never settle for a life less than the one we want. If asked, we would probably all say that we were working towards this sort of life, that we were one day going to live in such a way that every day was filled with passion as we lived out our dreams.
That's a fine and dandy answer, but it's not real. It's a front, maybe a coping mechanism to get through the now. Because it's easier to put up with passionless days if you promise yourself that one day, eventually, you will live a life full of all you are capable of.
But today is someday. Yesterday was someday. Last week was someday.
It's a Tuesday, and for all you know, it's the most important Tuesday of your life. Right now, it's the only day that matters, because it's the only day you have. And if you spend it mindlessly promising yourself that one day you'll have a life full of passion, instead of doing something passionate, or something that gets you closer to having a life full of things you're passionate about, then you're already settling.
It's Tuesday, and it's the only Tuesday that matters. What are you going to do with it?

You always inspire me!!! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this inspiring reminder. One day is all it takes to be something great. Why should I waste this day?
ReplyDeleteYou write so beautifully and eloquently. It reminds me of one of my favorite verses from a song, "If we must live for the moment, love 'til the moment is through."
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good reminder. I have been constantly reminding myself lately to just take things day by day. Yes, I have a goal and a plan for the future, but I want to live each day to its fullest.
ReplyDeleteLoving this quote Chels! Sometimes we become too complacent and comfortable with our day to day grind and forget to reach for the stars.

Love this!! : )
ReplyDeleteThis was nice;) I think we should all take time to evaluate if life is what we want it to be and make positive changes, but also realize that not every single day is sunshine-y, you know?
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! It's so true about just living in the moment. No one is guaranteed tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this! Absolutely love it :)
ReplyDeleteSo true, Chelsea! Love your spin on this quote :)
ReplyDeleteI understand what you're saying. I think it's similar to a quote I heard (I'm paraphrasing, this won't be exact): "Be happy with the life you have while you work for the life you want."
ReplyDeleteI think that's what most of us need to take a lesson in, you know? We're always 'wanting' and 'planning' and everything always happens 'tomorrow' and I mean, there is nothing wrong with that, you should believe that you'll have the life you always wanted, but you can't always get it overnight so learn to live and really love your current life today until you get there.
Yeah? Did I semi-stay on topic or did I completely go left field lol?

There have been those incredible moments in my life that I could hardly dream were possible at the time. I try to catalog and reference them whenever I feel like life is ordinary and then something amazing happens. Life is so interesting.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I really needed this today.
ReplyDeleteMaking me think- but in a good way :)
