TV Shows & Movies to Get You in the Mood for Fall.

Fall is the time to get outside and enjoy the weather, of course, but it's also the time to cozy up with some coffee and watch some good movies. These are my favorite shows and movies that remind me of fall, and they're almost all on Netflix.

You're welcome.

Friday Night Lights. The quintessential fall show. If you've never seen FNL, fall is the perfect time to watch it. A small town and fall and the football season...it's perfection, even if you don't like football. Trust me. I've seen every episode, and I'm watching it again, because fall.

PS: Part of me wants to move to Texas next year so I can get a tattoo that says texas forever. Reserve your judgement.

Gilmore Girls. I'm not sure why this one always makes me think of fall (the intro, maybe?) since it covers all the seasons, but it's a small town that makes a big deal about every season. Nothing makes me excited about fall quite like watching the town of Stars Hollow throw their annual fall festival. It's just adorable.

Parenthood. Again, not exactly sure why I think of this when I think of fall shows. I'm pretty sure that I just equate cozy, feel-good shows with my favorite season. If you've never seen Parenthood (do not be misled by the name, it's for everyone), then get yourself a cup of pumpkin coffee and watch the pilot. That's all you'll need to be hooked.

Pretty Little Liars. Because every October needs just a little bit of spooky. Fair warning: I absolutely HATED the way this show ended (even though there's another season in the works, but still. Hated it!) But it's still worth watching for everything up until that point.

Remember the Titans. If Friday Night Lights is the quintessential fall show, this is the quintessential fall movie. It's one of my favorites!

Elizabethtown. Full disclosure, this one has nothing to do with fall. BUT it does have the perfect fall soundtrack...seriously so good. And it's my favorite movie ever. And it's on Netflix. You're welcome.

You've Got Mail. Fall either makes me think of cozy small towns or New York City, nothing in between. This one is the latter, and I love it.

Rudy. So basically any movie about football goes on the fall list.

The Great Gatsby. "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." Is there anything better than combining fall + the '20s? No. No there is not.

Series You Need to be Binge-Watching on Netflix.

Summer is upon us, and it is the most wonderful time for every reason except one: Television.

Your shows are ending, your nights are free, and you will spend the next four months pondering the finales and googling when they come back on.

In the meantime, Netflix is about to be your new best friend. Not sure where to start? I've got you covered.
netflix shows to binge watch

Friday Night Lights. Probably my favorite show ever. Don't let the football theme scare you away--this is the greatest show to ever air (says this non-football fan). Though Connie Britton has BLOWN up lately, she will forever be Tammi Taylor to me. Please watch this immediately. TEXAS FOREVER.

Damages. This. Show. Is. Insane. So dark and twisty and villainous and just gooood. If you like law-themed shows and mysteries, this one is for you.

Hart of Dixie. A little lot less dark and twisty, this adorable show is about a big city doctor who relocates the the world's tiniest town...it is both heartwarming and hilarious, and you won't be able to get enough.

Parenthood. Quite possibly the greatest show to ever air. I am still in major depression that it is over. If you've never watched it, I'm so jealous that you're about to get to experience all of this for the first time. The Braverman family is all of us, and you will love sobbing along with keeping up with their story.

The Blacklist. This new one is so good that Netflix paid 2 MILLION DOLLARS PER EPISODE to be able to stream this. You're gonna want to trust them on this one. Raymond Reddington has been on the FBI's most wanted list forever, until he turns himself in one day--and that is only the beginning of the story.

The Office. BEST SHOW EVER. This comedy was sneakily emotional. You will fall in love while getting a ton of one-liners that you will work into conversations for the rest of your life. You are welcome.

Parks and Recreation. Along the same lines as the office, this one is hilarious and adorable. Plus, Amy Pohler and Chris Pratt. Do I need to say anything else? No, no I do not.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Because Erin from The Office got locked in a bunker and emerged 10 years later just as hilarious.

Pretty Little Liars. A mysterious "A" starts tormenting four best friends after the disappearance of their other best friend. Yes, this show was meant for high schoolers. SO WHAT?! It's twisty and mysterious and will keep you awake at night wondering who the heck A is. And by season four you will be pretty sure YOU are A .

Scandal. Because if you haven't lost yourself in the world of Olivia Pope yet, now is a great time to get started.

LOST. If you want a show that's really going to suck you in all summer, this is it. A plane crashes on a mysterious island, and no one comes to rescue them. Then things start to get weird. WONDERFULLY WEIRD.]

I Finally Watched the Finale: Lessons Learned from Parenthood.

That you cannot always judge a show by it's name. Why would I like a show called Parenthood when I'm not even a parent? Oh, that's right...because it is the greatest show that has ever existed.

That there is nothing more important that family. And that family doesn't always look like you think it will.

That you never forget your first love.

That when you leave behind a legacy, you're never truly gone.

That marriages are worth fighting for. And that marriage is about forgiveness.

That aging doesn't mean you're no longer young.

That there's nothing in life a little dance party can't solve.

That there's absolutely nothing in life that is perfect, and that's what makes it beautiful.

And most importantly, That Friday Night Lights will never truly be over.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

Have you watched Parenthood?
