Series You Need to be Binge-Watching on Netflix.

Summer is upon us, and it is the most wonderful time for every reason except one: Television.

Your shows are ending, your nights are free, and you will spend the next four months pondering the finales and googling when they come back on.

In the meantime, Netflix is about to be your new best friend. Not sure where to start? I've got you covered.
netflix shows to binge watch

Friday Night Lights. Probably my favorite show ever. Don't let the football theme scare you away--this is the greatest show to ever air (says this non-football fan). Though Connie Britton has BLOWN up lately, she will forever be Tammi Taylor to me. Please watch this immediately. TEXAS FOREVER.

Damages. This. Show. Is. Insane. So dark and twisty and villainous and just gooood. If you like law-themed shows and mysteries, this one is for you.

Hart of Dixie. A little lot less dark and twisty, this adorable show is about a big city doctor who relocates the the world's tiniest town...it is both heartwarming and hilarious, and you won't be able to get enough.

Parenthood. Quite possibly the greatest show to ever air. I am still in major depression that it is over. If you've never watched it, I'm so jealous that you're about to get to experience all of this for the first time. The Braverman family is all of us, and you will love sobbing along with keeping up with their story.

The Blacklist. This new one is so good that Netflix paid 2 MILLION DOLLARS PER EPISODE to be able to stream this. You're gonna want to trust them on this one. Raymond Reddington has been on the FBI's most wanted list forever, until he turns himself in one day--and that is only the beginning of the story.

The Office. BEST SHOW EVER. This comedy was sneakily emotional. You will fall in love while getting a ton of one-liners that you will work into conversations for the rest of your life. You are welcome.

Parks and Recreation. Along the same lines as the office, this one is hilarious and adorable. Plus, Amy Pohler and Chris Pratt. Do I need to say anything else? No, no I do not.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Because Erin from The Office got locked in a bunker and emerged 10 years later just as hilarious.

Pretty Little Liars. A mysterious "A" starts tormenting four best friends after the disappearance of their other best friend. Yes, this show was meant for high schoolers. SO WHAT?! It's twisty and mysterious and will keep you awake at night wondering who the heck A is. And by season four you will be pretty sure YOU are A .

Scandal. Because if you haven't lost yourself in the world of Olivia Pope yet, now is a great time to get started.

LOST. If you want a show that's really going to suck you in all summer, this is it. A plane crashes on a mysterious island, and no one comes to rescue them. Then things start to get weird. WONDERFULLY WEIRD.]

What shows did I miss?

  11. Agh! I love this post! We no longer have cable, so Netflix and Hulu are my lifeline! My husband makes fun of me for binge watching shows now. lol. I have watched a lot of the shows on your list--I think I need to check out the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (I didn't realize it was Erin). I'm currently binge watching Scrubs and Life Unexpected. Orange is the New Black, Don't Trust the B*tch in Apartment 23 (it's semi entertaining), and Once Upon a Time need to be added to the list!

  28. I ugly cried so bad when Parks and Rec ended. I keep meaning to start Kimmy Schmidt. I LOVED Lost so much that I actually had a guy I dated get mad because I watched it more than hanging out with him. That's why he's an ex. Orange is the New Black is awesome too! The West Wing is a really well written political show with humor mixed in. Plus Rob Lowe is in it! We have Hulu and also just got HBO Now (which apparently doesn't work on non Apple devices) s I have a lot of shows in my queue.

  30. I've been watching Pretty Little Liars!
I had heard good things about it before, but hadn't caught it from the beginning so didn't want to start midshow. So was excited when I found it on netflix. I think I am almost done with season one, finally!

  31. My husband and I just picked up Parenthood recently. We're like halfway through Season 5! For the longest time I just didn't think it was a show I would like, but now I just want to be a Braverman.

  32. WoopWoop! I am still sad that I finished Friday Night Lights! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I'll have to check out the others on this list of awesomeness!

  34. There are so many great shows on here and so many I've been dying to check out. FNL and Parenthoods are my absolute favorites! Jason Katims is a genius.

  35. Hart of Dixie! I was SO. SAD. when it got canceled. I started Parenthood last year and never finished and I don't remember where I left off..... ugh. I'm on season five of Parks and Rec and I'm OBSESSED. And I keep hearing great things about Scandal, so I guess that should be my next one?

  36. Coach Taylor and Tim Riggins. Swoon forever. I got hooked into that show after visiting Austin where it was filmed. I may have set a record with how fast it took me to binge watch it. Ooh The Blacklist! YES. I'm always on the edge of my seat and wondering what the true situation is. I'm gonna hate this season's finale.

  37. ohhhh man i totally got my husband sucked into 'pretty little liars' on thanksgiving day a few years ago! now it's been waaaay too drawn out so we've stopped but we also super loved lost! great suggestions!

  38. i'm starting to watch parenthood now. we finished the first season of unbreakable, and i'm not sure how i feel about it yet. we started bc one of our good friends plays the asian guy, but they made him have such a weird accent. i also love 30 rock, but i feel like without tina.. there's less charm. we're gonna see how the second season goes.. maybe it will take us a few.

  39. Damages sounds like my kind of show! Have you watched The Killing or The Fall? Both are moody, atmospheric mysteries with imperfect characters that are also kinda creepy. (Especially The Fall.)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Love Blacklist, Lost, Parks and Rec, and THE OFFICE. There are a few of these I still need to watch. Right now we are watching Man Men because Zack's never seen it and I will always re-watch Don Draper.
